The effects of parental involvement on academic performance of students: A study on secondary students of district Pishin, Balochistan

Parental involvement in the educational based activities of students and its effectiveness on the academic achievements is considered a norm in today’s educational system. In this research the researcher intended to assess the effects of parental involvement on academic performance of students, (a case study on the secondary school students of district Pishin, Baluchistan). The study used 420 students which were randomly selected from different secondary boys’ and girls’ schools throughout the district by using descriptive approach and base on quantitative method. Samples of the intended population were randomly selected from neighborhood of district Pishin in order to collect the necessary data. The data was collected using a questionnaire containing closed-ended Questions. The quantitative information came from targeted classified sets respondents. The whole data collected for study purpose was evaluated through the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The results revealed through frequency distribution and percentage method which showed that there existed correlation between parental involvement and student’s educational achievements. The outcomes demonstrated that parental involvement on academic achievement of students does matter. The findings also showed that 76% of the population were from Government schools only 23% were from Private School almost all of the parents had positive response toward education of their children and positive response was seen from their children. The findings of the said study recommend parents to help, participate, and guide their children in the educational based activities for positive and efficient learning and better performance in academic career.
